I don't know exactly why. Something to do with the skin and the hair and blah blah blah. But, look in your store for Bikini Zone. Its this after shave gel. It helps with the itching. I've also tried aloe vera gel and that works too.

The best answer I've found to this question is to not shave it entirely. Leave some hair there, Also when you shave, shave in the direction that the hair grows, and use a product that compliments the shaving. Not just soap or shaving cream, but a specialized shaving cream such as Coochy Cream.

Shave while you're bathing, 1st put dove soap down there...massage for a while to soften and moisturize then shave slowly. Be sure to clean the blades every now and then while shaving, be sure that the blades are always sharp and after you wash put moisturizer lotion carefully that it will not go inside down there :) You can shave everyday but,if there's no time once a week just be sure to put moisturizer always so it wont be itchy and dont scratch it in case ... this is what i do :)

Its just the skin not being used to the feeling of stubble growing back.
If you keep on doing it, it actually goes away eventually, if you can endure the initial hellishness of the experience a few times.
I can shave now without any problems, but it took 6-7 times of doing so before it stopped bothering me.
Before you get used to it, you could try using creams, gels and/or lotions. It can help a little.

You should use some type of gel of some sort because ur skin might be dry down there, and try not to wait until it grows back lon
g and thick to shave again.

i hope that you are shaving in the shower otherwise your asking for 10 times the normalm amount of itching. to prevent it try baby oil, aloe vera, and cocoa butter lotion. they all worked for me. also shave less and wax instead. it's quicker with less itch and doesn't need to be done as frequent.

It's probably caused because you have sensative skin and when you shave it gives you a razor burn/rash. My suggestion is to try another way of removing the hair (ie waxing, plucking, laser).

Use an electric/battery-operated razor. I don't know why, but it doesn't cause the itchiness that comes when using a regular razor. Also, use a loofah when you shower to avoid ingrown hairs. Follow with moisturizer or baby oil.

All I know is that the more you shave it the longer and coarser it grows back. I dont know how to prevent it though.

Don't shave, use a cream or if you already did put on lotion with aloe vera, not something perfumed and full of chemicals, that will burn, maybe Bert's Bees lotion or something natural.
