i've noticed that many teen musicians are alot alike, which is not a good thing. why is it that almost every other teenage musician i know is a nirvana junkie? or writes about really stupid things that are so teenage-angsty i want to shove their guitars down their throats? how come they dont play solos? and how come they dont move around more on stage? other musicians, do you feel the same way? do you feel its these people that make it hard for serious teenage musicians to be taken seriously?

amen brother. i'm a guitar teacher, and i'm bursting with pride to share with you that i have a lot of students that i do my best to expose to all kinds of music, not just the whiney "my dad didnt hug me" bands. i try to let them know that you cant just complain through every song. and yeah, they need to move around and be a showman, at least a little bit. i always make sure i teach my kids to push themselves and learn some solos, whether its clapton, or hendrix, or randy rhoads, or iron maiden, or david gilmour, or paco de lucia, or whatever..... if you're gonna do something, be the absolute best you can be.

yeah i feel that way. everyone wants to be a musician now. personally i think most of them don't have talent but at least they try. and i don't get why they cry and b i t c h about things. i want to listen to music not their over exaggerated terrible life story and those who want to be taken seriously can't because people are stereotypical these days and judge them right off the bat because they think they're another kid who is going to cry about their life and has no real talent. i don't think good charlotte or simple plan and even green day is good all their chords are the same but people think they are good and they want to be rich and famous for the money and not because they love music like some musicians do... i play the flute and piano and other instruments and i'm trying to learn the guitar but eh not going so well haha but yeah i agree with you so check ya later ♥

I think that whole thing is agnst ridden. It is true many teens share the same immage but honestly as a musician I think two things 1) they will develope uniqities 2) Many people of all ages sound the same. Not all lyrics are stupid you have deffinately not listened to every teen in the world. Do not make steriotypes like that it does not show you in a good or smart light.

first of all they are as you said teenagers what kind of life experiances do you think they have to write about that has not been written befor as far as solos its a trend plus most guitarist that play killer solos are not 16 and 17 they are not talented enough and they pass this crap off as music lets face it their have been thousands of bands but very few are or have been mindblowing and those that are lift the bar so high that if you cannot play with them you play songs with no solos as far as movement if you dont like the music who cares how they move
