if ur not eating meat u definitely need the nuts and pasta and fruits and veggies. i was a vegetarian for 3 months (it wouldve been longer but my mother wouldnt allow me 2 continue anyway) i lost alot of weight i think about 20 lbs.(no less) but i was only eating like 1000 calories a day. i started drinking diet sodas. one thing i learned 2 help u lose weight is drinking a glass of water before and after each meal. it REALLY helps with weight loss. u also need 2 take vitamins.i recommend viactiv calcium chews. not only do they provide nutrients they help with hair growth.

Try eating wheat pasta which will provide you with more fiber and nutrients overall. Eat a rainbow of fresh fruits and vegies everyday and eat heart healthy nuts. As long as you are eating a variety of healthy food and getting enough calories, you should be okay. Try taking a multi vitamin to ensure you are getting what you need. Drink and eat healthy such as fish, lean chicken, fiber rich foods, low fat milk or soy products, royal jelly, green drinks found at health food stores. I am diabetic and know a lot about nutrition and read alot about it as well. Maybe you could visit a nutritionist for an evaluation as well.

It can be healthy, but it can also be unhealthy if you don't get enough nutrients. I'm assuming you're a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and still eat eggs and milk, which are a good source of protein if you do. As for losing weight, a lot of vegetarians compensate for their lack of protein with a lot of carbs (bagels, chips, potatoes etc) and end up actually gaining weight. Make sure you eat enough protein to fill yourself up, and that you eat vitamins as well. You can find some really good recipes all over the place on-line! Good luck! : )

Looks like a healthy diet. But since you have changed from one that you have been used to for many years, you should really work out a healthy diet with your dietician to ensure that you get the nutrition you need in accordance with your life style, occupation, sex and age.
About losing weight: If you are over-weight, i think its best to loose gradually over a sufficiently long period of time. If it's done that way, it's better for your system and usually does not come back. A good way to do this is to ensure that calorific output is slightly more than calorific input. This requires you to exercise as well as to "watch those calories". Once again you should do this in consultation with your doctor.

Meat is not THE reason of gaining unwanted weight. Actually protein is very necessary for your body. Check south beach style diet which explains very detailed about balanced nutrition diet. I saw my co-worker losing $50 pounds in 4 months with stricted south beach diet and about 20 minutes walk every day.

Just being a vegetarian will not NOT help you lose weight. Most people actually gain due to eating more high carb stuff like pastas and sweets.

I don't know if it's healthy or not but if you want to lose weight then you should eat more meat because it keeps you full for a long time.

Nope. Vegetarianism is unhealthy when done correctly and you are doing it incorrectly (and unsafely). You absolutely MUST adhere rigidly to certain guidelines for vegetarianism to be safe (get a book on it). It will never be an ideal healthy diet, but you can subsist on it if you know what you are doing. The way you are doing it will make you sick.

Not eating meat won't in itself help you to lose weight.
Make sure that you still get enough protein in your diet and that you keep things balanced and you shouldn't have any ill effects.
