I like Abraham Lincoln because I think nothing is more difficult then leading a country at war. I think a civil war would be the most difficult and at war over the moral and economic issue of slavery would be very difficult. What I found the most impressive about him was that when suspending habeous corpus during the Civil War he went to his Goverment and got their approval. I think rather then dividing the Goverment he unified it under one purpose, self perservation despite opposing veiws his focus was the unity of the nation, regardless of his personal veiws on the moral issues of slavery, he perserved the Union. He reinforced this veiw by not enacting crushing punishments on those states who chose the confederation but instead sought to welcome them back in as brethern.

My favorite president is the one we have right now, Mr. George W. Bush. He's my favorite because he accomplished a feat that 6 years ago I would have thought impossible: making me wish Bill Clinton was still president.

No (FD)Roosevelt here ?

Well, he's my top pick for president for 2 reasons:

1. Any other president (at the time) would have been so hell bent on staying out of political affairs since world war 1, that they would have ignored the growing threat posed by the axis powers. Because of this ignorance, they would have not seen the financial opportunity to at the same time help the United States recoup from the economic disaster that was The Great Depression. Thus leaving the US with a pitiful army and financial backing that amounted to nothing. So when we were attacked in the pacific, we would have had little ability to stop the Japanese in the west, and thus would have put ourselves in a situation with the Japanese in a perfect position to launch a full-scale attack on the US.

2. You had a president that was not a higher up who treats people below him as truly below him. He spoke to Americans like they were people and convinced them along, keeping them comforted and entertained through the depression and the war. Without these attributes, he would have never succeeded as a president in those times. People would have lost faith in their government, and who knows, maybe would have tried to overthrow it.

So that's my best pick. The man that saved us from an impending doom that very few people could predict.

Teddy Roosevelt. A superior mind, with a strong sense of responsibility to the world surrounding him. He was a no no-nonsense man with firm beliefs and unwavering values. This man could not be bought for any reason. Many of the wonders this country and it's people enjoy are attributed directly to him such as the National Parks, agencies to protect our wilderness and even coinage which is being re-introduced today simply because nothing better has been designed from the very early 1900's. A Man's man but also a true American Hero!

First off the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. My favorite presidency is that of James and Dolly Madison. They truly kept our nation alive.

Its close between Arbenz and Arzu. Arbenz brought in more social policy to the Republic and wanted to socialize the unused land of the UFC. However the UFC whined and the CIA invaded and put up another dictator. Arzu was recent and the war ended with him

I love Clinton, because he helped out the black community and came down to my home town and left money to build new homes in the african american areas (the ghetto) and I liked him cause he was the closes you could get to having a Black president. I also like him because he is a SEC fan (arkansas)! Although what he did with Monica Lewinski and the tax money of ours, he was still a great man and he was very strong when everybody was on his back!

I personally like Teddy Roosevelt. He was really the one who started the U. S. down the road to being a superpower. He recognized America's potential and tried to maximize it.
