In my opinion, a good way to "soothe" anger is to: (1) be clear about the event, or situation which triggered the anger (2) what is it you believe about the situation? what are your perceptions about the event or situation? On a scale from 1-10, and 10 being the maximum intense anger, based upon the situation/event, where would your anger fall? Hopefully, it would not be a 10, because this would lead to negative consequences. It is ok to feel anger, keeping it under control ( between 3 annoyed- 5.5 somewhat agitated) is the key.
Consider taking a time out, before talking to the person which " made you angry", go for a walk, talk to a trusted friend, try to communicate once you have calmed down.
If the same issue keeps coming up with the same person(s) or the same issue keeps coming up, but with other persons, maybe you would think about looking at what you may be doing. I know it does takes an element of courage, to look at ourselves, but sometimes it takes this to rule out the possibility that it may not be you, but your perception of an issue, or situation. after the willingness to look at the part you play in this, you find that" it ain't you" then maybe you need to move on,( depending upon the situation. IF there is no room for communication.
It's not about being right... it's about being happy,at least for me this works.

exercise subsides tension and stress. Take it out on a bean bag, do kickboxing. You'll burn off anger and get a good workout. Channel the anger to something constructive. In the moment, before you break someone's face (yea, I've been there) breathe, slow yourself down and think about the end result of what you're about to do. Remember a time when you were real angry and think about the fact that you're over it now and this too shall pass.

For me it depends on what I am angry about. If I have had a really cruddy day and am just grumpy, I usually need a warm bath, cup of tea, a no brainer book/magazine to escape in, and a piece of chocolate. If I am really irritated/angry with my daughter or someone/something else, I take a deep breath and clench all my muscles in my body and as I release my breath I release the tension I am holding in my muscles. I try to transfer that emotion out of my body.
I also pray, sing, have a good cry, listen to music, shop (browze), type really loud and hard on the computer, vacuum, scrub the floors on my hands and knees. etc.
wow-I must get angry a lot. lol.

Take a deep breath and count backwards from 10...if the anger is worse start at a higher number. Also try to think about a happier time in your life. Or something that makes you happy.
