No, they're a joke - a farce. Meaningless, unless you add "until I find someone better or you really piss me off" at the end of just about every vow.
It's gotten to the point where marriage vows are akin to a football players contract - where you agree to play for a team for x amount of time, and then renegotiate everything all over again at some future date, often resulting in playing for another team. They call their negotiators agents, married people call them divorce lawyers - same job.

They have always meant something to me. They evidently didn't mean anything to my ex husband as he cheated almost the whole 21 years we were together (I found this out the last few months we were together). The vows mean everything to my fiance, just as they do me.

Vows are very meaningful. You should honor your vows always, and not just wedding vows.

The vows are supposed to be words that describe how you feel about one another...so yes...if you truly feel that way about someone they should mean everything, and forever!

does your word mean anything? If you promise me something and don't deliver, does it mean anything? That's up to the individual, trust comes before ALL things. If you have doubts about the person your engaged to as to weather or not their honest your surely doomed

I would say yes, the day that they're spoken.
However, memories tend to fog over verrrrrrry quickly, when reality step in!
