Start by looking up "narcissistic personality disorder". If this fits the people in your life, walk away and never look back, even if they try to manipulate you to come back. They are destructive people who are notorious betrayers.

Spend time ALONE rebuilding (or building) confidence in yourself away from these personality types and once you are in a good place emotionally, begin to seek out people who aren't narcissists. Always stay aware of the signs of a narcissist and steer clear of them.

I think that you need to upgrade your social circle. It's not hard to surround yourself by people who aren't threatened by violating your trust. Perhaps you could try assessment skills in which you could better detect people who may be candidates for this behavior.
Remember too, that a strong personality will deter efforts by others in manipulating you. Find characteristics that you can develop and apply with frequent pressure that will send the message to others that you're an unwilling target
Today's ever changing society produces a culture of users, abusers, and losers. The downside to this is that many of these who opt for a counter-culture often become a social predator. They will go to extremes to manipulate and get what they want. If this can only be done at the expense of others, so what. They lack a moral conscience.
Once you begin looking for these things in people, you'll be surprised how simple it is. Make rules for your relationships with others and abide by them. Only then will you truly be able to live and manage your personal life through a comprehensive quality assurance plan.

Learn to trust again. A child can only learn to walk if he or she falls numerous times in the process to learn walking. Again, each time he or she gets up to avoid earlier mistakes and contiinue to move. Likewise, see around you. Maybe the problem could be within you. You are either too nice or too cold. Read lots of counselling books and talk to a good friend.

The only way that I made it was by the hand of God. Really. My mother and relatives on her side hated me before I was born. I could go on and on and on. Shrinks do not believe what has happen to me throughout my life-time.
If my faith had not been strong, I would have ended my life years ago. Thank God for HIS Commandments, Thou shalt not kill. Suicide was not allowable because God reminded me of this commandment. It has taken so many years to finally be given peace and contentment. The only way to survive is by faith and guidance from God.
