US high schools are VERY easy. My wife came here from China when she was just starting high school, and was bored in math and science classes because in China, they learn that stuff in 7th and 8th grade. English was a bit harder.

I have experienced living with 3 students from Russia who came to American schools to study for a year each. One even came back to study at a university in Connecticut. They have all told me that Russian schools are far more difficult with rigid structure. If you are trying to learn English and become more aware of our culture then it's probably a good idea. Immersion is a very good way to learn a language and all of our students have arrived speaking little to no English and left speaking as well as native speakers. I would be very careful with the program you choose to come to the U.S. with as I have heard some horror stories. I do not mean to scare you out of coming, but you should make sure that there is a very good process for choosing which families you are going to be living with while you are here.
