Suicide???
A lot of the responsibilities for the goal belong to the goalkeeper Bobadilla: he was poorly positioned on the goal line. So, Gamarra is not the only responsible for the goal!

Dear Silverstarloader
No never ever.As you know in USA1994 the Colombian defender was killed because of a mistake. When a defender save many chances do you give him a prize??
If Gamarra should be punished so Italian Roberto Baggio must be punished for his miss of Penalty kick against Brazil in 1994 and so Italians miss the Final!!
Never think like this.Do not forget peace and friendship.

No I should'nt think so. A Columbian once scored an own goal in the World Cup and got back home and got shot to death a few weeks after.

Own goals happen.

the ball would of gone in anyways. his header did not change the course of the ball. backhams bend was intended for the far right corner anyway. so its not gamarras fault.
