Sadly, I don't believe that there is a way to do this. I know that the archive saves onto the computer itself, but it deletes when the messages are deleted from the computer. I know of a software that monitors messenger activity etc. but I don't the name of it. I just know my aunt got it about a year ago... though I don't think she uses it now.

As u found out the Yahoo Messenger log can be easily deleted.
Try this method. Install a Screen Activity Spy software. It captures the entire PC time into an AVI file. Simply play back to check through what your children got up to on the net or pc.
See here for some options:

Of course install this kind of software discretely. Make sure there is no launch reference to it in the start_ programs listing by deleting shortcuts to it.
Also download software to hide its folders and password restrict access to the control section of the system, such as the control panel and registry.

No, I have tried to get the archives (work policy) and read them on a different machine. That did not work for some reason but you can try a parental tool out there and that works allot better. They have some where the child will not even know they are on there.

Dont think so, and he is your SON, you dont have to see what he is writing, it will be rude. Even if he is talking about things that you wont like , still, it is HIS life, try not to go in it from the beginning. Or ask him , just ask. If he doesnt want to tell you, just forget it!!
