You can't always trust what the thermostat is telling you. You want to be comfortable. Plus, from experience, different types of heat seem to feel warmer than others. Wood heat is a deeper more penetrating type of heat. Then there's various types of gas heat, then you have different types of electric heat. Personally, I hate electric heat. Every apartment I ever had that had electric heat, I never seemed to feel warm. I hated turning the thermostat above 72 because I was then shocked by the bill.

Some people prefer to have the heat down but dress warmer. I know people who like to wear shorts in the winter when they are home, so they like to have the thermostat up high so it feels really warm in their house and they can be comfy in their shorts. Depends on your preference and your budget!

Don't trust the actual number on the thermostat. Set it at a comfortable setting. If you want to know the real temp, get a separate thermometer. My air conditioner is set at 78 but I'm sure that 78 is far from the actual temp. In the winter I have the same thermostat set to about 72.

well raise it up if you are freezing.. i guess the air-conditioning is different because mine is about 75 and it cools the whole house and i am not freezing, but i also have pants on too...so just turn it up some and see if that does not help ...you may have to push it up to 78 if you are still cold in there....
