Give her something that she can take with her and you know she will love, a family portrait with her in it would be very nice and the day before she leaves plan a gathering or a small party as her as the guest of honor and if possible make a movie using pictures of the good times that you had while she was there with you and just show her the love of how much she was part of the family. that is something i know she will never forget and always keep close to her heart.

Any useful things for her children. Maids love children, that's why she loves to take good care of your son not just because she's getting paid to do it. They work for their family so if she have kids, it would be best to give her something which her children could use, like school supplies, educational toys or clothes.
My mom is a nurse and the parents of the kids she took care sometimes give her brownies or cakes as a sign of appreciation. Give her anything that can melt her heart and make her feel that she is really appreciated.
*don't give her diamonds, that's too much. LOL!!!

A spa day or massage is nice if she'll be here for another week or so. Other than that perhaps a nice basket of bath salts, lotions, etc with a framed picture of your child? or a coffee/tea basket, depending on her tastes?
They also sell the 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' inspirational books in different languages on Amazon and at Target/Borders, so you might be able to find a nice book of stories in her native language, if it is other than English.

Aww, how touching.
That's tough, but it has to be:
Something made by the child himself. A drawing possibly, or some other sort of craft. A picture would also go nicely with it, a picture of the entire family together, with her in it too if possible.

You could make her a photo album or scrapbook with pictures of her and your family. Or, you could sew/buy her a quilt or fleece throw & use those iron-on transfers to put a picture of her & your child in the corner. You could include a handmade card from your child. With these, you could include a framed picture of your family & her and a nice cash bonus.

the best thing to give her is whatever u think she least have, i think make it in cash. it doesnt have to be so much but what you can trully afford and an assurance that in time that she needs your help not to hesitate to come to you and that you are willing to extend her the help you can in the best way you can. there is nothing you can give to someone who have given you the help with so much attention care and unselfishly given, except words of assurance that when the time comes that she needs someone you are there for her.

a card and cash -- USD is a hot commodity in most countries. Let her get what she want for herself -- she may just need to get reestablished -- crystal vases cant help with that.

Just ask her what would be good gift - what does she need - maybe a watch, jewelery, coats, shoes, etc. Something that she couldn't get where she lives.
