Ok.. other than the obvious (go slow, lubricate, etc.) what can I do to make first-time sex less painful? I'm 21 and engaged.. I feel bad for making my man wait so long.. From the first time we tried it hurt badly just from the tip barely in... When I try with my finger it also hurts.. I know its suposed to hurt but is that normal for it to hurt when it's barely in?

What is the best position for this? Woman on top or man on top? Does having a condom make it more painful? Or less?

try man on top and tell him to go slow! when it hurts, speak up.

do you use tampons? probably not. they hurt first couple times. Try using tampons on your next period.
i know this is different but they are related. in the shower you may want to practice "that" feeling and insert your index finger as far in your tunnel as you can. it hurts but it will help you prepare better.

relax and go with the flow. when you tense up every muscle tenses up include down-there muscles. Always remember to speak up b/c good communication is essencial!!! :)

I'm still a virgin but know alot about sex, wierd? dont worry- waiting until marriage.....

Personally, I'd say that missionary would be the best position for you to start out. That way you can extend your legs outward and also when he inserts, it won't hut as much. Don't be so tense when he goes in, it'll make it hurt more. Also, I'd recommend no condom because for some women condoms make the penis larger. Even though it's thin as heck, some women still feel it. So no condom first, then after your hymen breaks, have him put on the condom. Also, it all depends on the structure of your hymen. All women have different structures and depending on that, it also depends on how much pain you'll feel the first time.

So to answer you question... lub up, no condom at first, missionary position, don't be tense, have him go in slow... SLOW. RELAX. That's it. Good luck!!

Everyone's first time sucks. Until your hymen breaks, it will hurt pretty badly. (I'm sorry to put it that way).

I'm not sure if there is a best position, but I think if you both go into it with the thought that it will get better each time you have sex, then I think that is the most important thing.

A condom doesn't make any "pain" difference.

Good luck and congrats!
