can you help me about my son's ipod?

my son's new ipod with video cannot be detected when connected to pc or laptop,but before he was able to download music files.

hehe, you shelled out alot of cash to buy an ipod for a kid! it probably doesn't work because he dropped it or put it in a bowl of cereal or something.
