I just types www.amazon.com and it gave me this message: Internet Explorer has encounter a problem and needs to close ... (I am sure you saw that grey boy before). That's what I get all the time now ...

it could be that the server you are trying to contact is busy.

CHANGE: Try Nunu's advice. If that does not work, go into add remove programs and click on Internet explorer and there should be an option to repair internet explorer.

There are many possibilities. Among them:
If you see any of these 3 digit codes in the error message:
"404" - the address used to work but is no longer working. Maybe the web page was moved to another address, or the web site has shut down. This error could also mean that your computer cannot reach the web address because there is a problem with your internet connection.
"500" - there's a problem on the web server you are trying to reach. This kind of thing would probably be resolved sooner or later.
"403" the web site no longer gives you access - this could happen if there was a username/password to access the site.

I agree, this does happen maybe because for our typing mistakes, bad connection, server down etc etc, I suppose!
I am lazy in typing. I type the address in Yahoo search bar and let it search/ choose the address link.

May be a virus or spyware Attack.delete history,cookies,scan with MacAfee...
to delete history go tools,options(depending on the browser you use)

whats the address? sometimes you need to add the www's some urls dont work without them.

which IE u r using. update ur IE to version 6.0. if u got IE 6.0 then try 2 reinstall it or repaired it.
