im on my third pregnancy and never had any with the first two, this time though its been awful! i woke up in the middle of the night wondering what was wrong with me, jumped online to see if there were any home remedies, and found a few that worked within mins!. drink a little white vinegar, it neutralises the acids that cause the burn, then chew a piece of gum! truly worked! took less then 5 mins and i was back to normal. i'm sure all the other remedies everyone else has told you are great too, but in the middle of the night with no access to a drugstore and nothing on hand i found the home remedys fabulous!

I tried tums for awhile, then a cold glass of milk....eventually I figured out what was giving me heartburn all the time (Ittalian food) and I had to cut out anything with tomatoes in it. With the amount of heartburn I've had this pregnancy...my baby better come out with a fro!!!! lol. I NEVER had heartburn until I got pregnant. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Stop eating spicy foods if you are. That will give you massive heartburn. And they do say that if you have bad heartburn during pregnancy your child is going to be born with a head full of hair. So there may be nothing you can do if that is the case.

Stay away from spicy food, and try drinking some milk. On the positive side, there's an old wives tale that links heartburn to babies with hair on their heads, so if you don't want a baldy you might be in luck.

I feel for you....I get heartburn from conception on. Caffeine can trigger it along with the foods everyone else listed. Truth is, so can water. I took prescription Zantac with my daughter 8 years ago. But now that it's over-the-counter, you don't need a prescription from the doctor. I would still clear it with your OB doctor first.

Avoid spicy foods and fried foods. This has helped me. This could be genetics and/or you stress level. Try to avoid acid-packed food, like oranges and orange juice, as well as cut down on caffeine. Try to eliminate it from your diet. I take mylanta ultra chewables and maalox max chewables. These have worked for me. Try milk, I cannot touch the stuff and I'm pregnant, too, and you might try rollaids. These have all helped me. I try to get really chalky chewables, because these do me the most good. Good Luck!!
