Because the greatest asset a country (or any group has) is hope for the future, which is what children really embody.

Why children are considered a wealth of a country?
They are a countries hope, abilities and future wrapped up in one "neat" package, and as each generation is supposed to rise above the last, each generation is seen as more wealthy.
Whether it be in gold or attributes...

In the country we are living right now, we are not getting better and we stand differently. We should let the children be our hope to be better. The old people will die and eventually age. The children are the ones bearing surnames and producing the new generations. They are hope and hope is wealth. We should not let them die...

Their knowledge, morals, and values will be the accepted ideas when they are the adults of a country....thus what we teach them know will be the "wealth of the country". I am hoping we do it right.
