If you are using windows XP then Ctrl-Shift-Esc will open the task manager in the Aplications tab click on the program (i.e. Internet Explorer and choose end task) if you close explorer chances are that the interface will disapear. Don't worry just press New Task 'explorer' hit enter and you're done. If the site keeps opening on boot you should check your startup to be sure. If it keeps poping up al the time than you have been infected with a virus. Try installing an antivirus and doing a full system scan. If you still have the problem than start cursing like a sailor and format your machine.

How could you possibly read this once you've unplugged your computer? OK, let's say you were smart enough to use another computer to read the reply. What is "HP Site"? I assume that's Hewlett-Packard's site. You can't close your internet browser? OK. Just turn your computer back on...if an "HP" internet browser window pops up, close it. If another pops up, you've got a virus. Run anti-virus software either way to be safe.

Unplugging your computer is only necessary if you're planning to open it up. Otherwise, turning it off is the same exact thing...

Do not turn off your computer. Always use ctrl-alt-del task manager to shut down or restart the computer, it always works after a short delay.

Turn your modem off and repower. If you turned your computer off and still have the connection with HP then the modem is stuck on it. Turning it off should break the connection.

Hmm had the same prob. and had to reboot comp. etc. there must be something about that site that causes system to lockup.

You could also try Ctrl-Alt-Del to open task man. if you can't close browser.
