I have 22 dogs, Chihuahuas. With vet bills, dog food, toys, etc I probably spend $5,000 a year. I know that is not the norm, but I know that true pet lovers spare no expense when it comes to their pets.

Total that Americans spent on their pets last year, are you ready for this??? I lost the link, but found this with a google search.

34 Billion

It all depends on what kind of animals. I spend about $50.00 a month on the 2 farrets, $30.00 on a dog, $30.00 on 2 cats and $30.00 on 12 birds. This does not include vet bills or the toys. Animals need new toys just like kids do. Pets are not cheap to keep.

I don't have a pet, but my father does. He spends about $800-900.00 on his German Sheppard about every three to four months. He has to get his shots, and food, and he's been neutered so, that cost a pretty penny. In my opinion, I don't think it is too much to spend on an animal. If you really love your animal, then you will not care how much you spend on them, as long as you have the money to do it.

I have 3 cats and a dog. It costs me somewhere around $200 per year to get their shots. We buy them lots of treats. Add in the cost of kitty litter, food, and other misc. things (I am estimating here) and it comes up to about probably $600 or so per year.

I don't know, but I would get a third job if my pet needed anything. I will be the first to admit it, I spoil my dog.
