when a child SUDDENLY starts acting out . NOT because of being spoiled or lack of dicipline or mental illness. why can't parents see that when a child's behavior suddenly changes it could be because he/she is being molested.

It could be, and there could be many other reasons why a child acts out.

My brother acted out in school most of his school years (I can't remember how many desks he took apart), and I know he was not molested. We had a very dysfunctional family, however, and to make matters worse, he was (and still is) dyslexic at a time when this problem was poorly understood. The school psychologist wanted us ALL to come for counseling, but my mother would have none of it.

"We are not crazy!" she shouted loud enough for me to hear in my room.

I think that's the reaction many parents would have if their child suddenly started acting out: it can't be a FAMILY problem. It must be the child's problem. Or total denial: "there is no problem, he's not acting out, I don't know what you're talking about."

My poor brother was branded "bad."

Why can't parents see it? Denial, embarrassment, fear.

Your job as a parent is to teach your children well. Ben Laden's father let a murderer out of his house and is cost 3,000 lives in one day. Is there such thing as a bad child? You bet there is. You as a parent are responsible, get to work and start being a survivor instead of a victim. God Bless

They would complain if the child sat in a corner and didnt say anything too. Then the child would be called strange. People are too fast to judge other people's children. Either they have perfect children, which is impossible, or they have none.

O r something the key word here is SUDDENLY, truly knowing your child or a child is the key to knowing when something is going on out of the ordinary and cause for alarm!

Nice way to spread paranoia. There are literally hundreds of reasons a child acts out, and very, very seldom is it because he/she is being molested.

There IS such a thing as a spoiled rotten brat, without them having been molested. Believe me I have seen them!

that could be one of many reasons that children act out...children are new to this place, they look to us to lead them,to show them how things are done and what is not..they sometime just do not know what is expected of them,i do not believe any child spoiled but, troubled or lost.
