I mean, what's the message? The things that you fear- are what you fear. And you can't really fear fear- that would be somewhat illogical, wouldn't it?

There is sense to it but it's a tad convoluted.

Basically, while there are things that you fear, those things cannot physically stop you from acting or doing. It is the fear itself which immobilizes us, not the thing. Often times fear is a feeling, not so much directed at an object (people fear change or new experiences).

So, it is accurate that the only thing we should really be afraid of is fear because it keeps us from acting or doing what we would otherwise want to do.

I get the sense that the message is this: Our fear is what stops us from doing great things. Our fear (of whatever) is what we need to be afraid of because if fear keeps us from living, striving and achieving, then we are not really living....just existing. Do not ever let fear rule your life. Reach for the stars!

I think the message is: be fearful of the act of "fearing", for in doing so you are limiting yourself. It is encouraging us to fear not, think about how limiting fear is, it is a hindrance to our being, is it not? Being fearful and opting not to risk and to grow....fear that.
