First, decide what you want to do.
Doctor, Lawyer, Archeologist, Astronomer, Engineer
From that, you want to look at schools that are best for what you want.
In the meantime, try to get all As. Then build a knowledge of community service, Get involved in things.
Let's say that you got all As and applied at Yale University. (Every applicant got all As, and I mean thousands of them) What makes your all As stand out above the others?
Good luck.

On the one hand, you have plenty of time. On the other, it is good that you are thinking about this.
US News & World Report puts out a special edition every year where they rank schools. Look through it & see what schools are ranked highly. Then think about what is best for you.
They rank the schools by type. The best National Universities include schools like the Ivy League schools together with Duke, Stanford, MIT, Cal Tech and Northwestern. But there is also a list of excellent liberal arts colleges that cater to undergraduates. This list includes schools like Swathmore, Haverford, Williams and Carlton.
There are lots of excellent state schools as well. Some states -- like Minnesota -- have huge universities that have highly rated graduate programs but are not very selective in letting in undergraduates. At these schools, you can get an education that is as good as a Harvard education or you can skate through. Other states have a tiered system where only the top students can get into the better schools. For example, California has the Cal State schools which are not very selective, then they have the U of California system which is more selective -- and within that, they have UCLA and UC at Berkeley which are more selective. States like Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia have similar systems where one campus is much better than the others.
If you want to go to a good college, make sure you do well in High School. Find out what you need to do to get into a good school. Good grades aren't enough.

I am a school band teacher. Good schools are everywhere. The important thing is when choosing a school, what do you want to do when you graduate. After thinking for a long time about what you actually want to do in the "real world," then choose a program of study that would allow you to do your desired occupation.
THEN, and only then, research which schools offer excellent programs in the field you're interested in. You'll find that there are tons of good schools in the United States, but certain schools are well-known for certain fields of study. I hope this helps you. I commend you for being interested in your future at a young age

Go to Canada, to UBC in British Columbia. It's been rated (by Intl. Scholastics agencies outside the US and Canada) as the third best university in the world for law, medicine, and social attitude of the students for the last four years straight. And they're only going up from there.

Good for you for planning on going to college. It is hard to suggest one, as each college has strong and weak programs. Start by thinking about things that you wold like to study, and then ask about colleges that offer programs which relate to that. A great place to start is at college nights, which are often held at malls or high schools. There, you and your parents can meet with representatives from many different colleges. Good luck to you!!

I'm not sure what part of the US you live in, but I would look for colleges like in the top ivy league. At least, my expectations are high:
1) Harvard
2) Yale
3) Stanford
4) MIT
5) Princeton
6)NYU
7) UPENN

It depends on what you like to do and what sort of career path you're looking to follow. Each school has its own programs so you need to find the one that has what you're looking for in terms of courses and career opportunities.
For example, if you're interested in politics, go to a school that has a large political science department and a lot of big-name politicians as alumni.

Relax, you're too young to worry. Besides, if you're looking for serious counseling on Answers.....you probably aren't headed to one of the better schools anyway!

I'd say if you're on the West Coast, UCLA or SDSU.
