usually about every six months is sufficient. Its main purpose is to clean the fuel injectors which helps with engine response and increases your miles per gallon. Adding it more often than that is a waste of money because it is not going to clean the injectors much more than they already are once you have added the first bottle. It won't hurt anything, but I am sure that money could be used to put an extra half gallon of gas in your vehicle.

I'd have to agree with the mechanic - every other tank is the maximum; but I usually use it about every 5000-6000 miles. Also, it's worth your while to have a complete injector cleaning service done..... runs about the same as a transmission service which is needed at about 45K miles. Prolong your vehicle's life by doing some extended preventative maintenance.

I put it in every month. I use the stuff called "Seafoam". It does everything including cleaning fuel injectors.

I put it in when I notice an engine miss or a rough idle, most of todays fuels come with a mild cleaner already in them,ie Shells techron
