Think of your favorite marvel superhero or heros OR your favorite villians, now think of who should play them in the movies and why.

I know Ghost Rider is next and Nicholas Cage is supposted to be him, but I honestly think they could have picked someone WAY better for the role. I think they should have gone with someone less well known like Casper Van Dien or some new actor. Anyone agree?

First a quick opinion about Nicolas Cage. If you didn't know it already, he's a HUGE comic book fan, especially Marval comics, and he has been trying to break into a role for ages. If you didn't know this, you may find it interesting. Nicolas Cage's real name is Nicholas Coppola, and he is nephew to director Francis Ford Coppola. When he first got into acting, he was told to lose the name as it was too famous, and would probably result in accusations of nepetism. So, being the fan-boy that he was/is, he chose the name Nick Cage, because Luke Cage a.k.a. Power-man was his favorite hero. All that being said, I think he just may have the chops to pull off a roll like Ghost-Rider.

Now to answer your question, which also asks for an opinion. My favorite hero is the Silver Surfer. Now I do not believe that a movie with SS as the only hero would be a hit, so I'm going with the FF sequel theory for his big-screen debut. Why not take it a step further, and introduce him the same way they did way back in 1966 in the pages of FF, as the Herald of the planet eater Galactus. This would be a huge undertaking for the effects team, but I've been impressed by what they can do lately. As to who to play my all-time favorite surfer? Probably would be best if it was an unknown, so that the audience would buy the whole shiney metalic look. Someone who can pull off the emotions needed for the necessary flashback scenes where his origin is revealed.

Thanks for the great question, it really got me thinking about fun things :)

Neither. There is a glut of "comic" movies. The only surprise for me is, in this era of CIA-worship and militarism, why "Nick Fury" hasn't been turned into a film.

The two comics that *need* to be made into films are "Maus" and "Elfquest". Unfortunately, Art Spiegelman doesn't want Maus turned into a corporate machine (I can't blame him for that) and some idiot holds the movie rights for Elfquest and killed a project to make one. Nobody *can* make Elfquest.

If you don't know those two comics, you missed out. Go and read them.

These were the two stories that literally invented the "graphic novel" era.
