im a nanny and for a 2 yrs we planted seeds but planted them to deep when i empty the plant with about 7-15 seed under about 1 in of dirt were 7-15 small roots beginning to grow so i gently split them then planted space apart do you think the will live or am i just taking up time for something more worth while thank

i presume you and your ward are just planting for the fun of it. Try planting mongo bean seeds instead. Just sprinkle the seeds over good loam soil (reddish loose soil, not the clay type) and in a few days, your ward will be thrilled to see some beansprouts grow. Use the sprouts for salad or oriental veggies dish. By the way, place the pot facing the morning sun and just see to it the soil is moist all the time. Have fun.

Seeds are very hard to work with. It is much better to buy young plants. You will have a better chance of success. These plants might live though. Give them sunshine and don't over water.

I think they'll grow; leave them.
