Does she have other symptoms? Usually when they're teething they are irritable and they cry a lot too. Also, if she has an ear infection that could be causing the fever and with ear infections they only get worse and are very painful. It could be something as simple as her fighting off a cold or infection or even an allergy. You might want to just take her to the doctor to ease your mind. But here's a link to a good website about fevers in children: http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/body/fever.html

First a quick question... has the Tylenol and Motrin brought the fever down at all? Does it go down then come back? If that is the case it sounds like there is an infection going on somewhere (probably ear.)
If you want to know if she is teething look at her gums. If they look like they are swollen and white, they will kinda have a slight bulge look then I would say it's teeth. There are things at walmart called Teething Tablets.. I swear by them! They work SOOOOOO well! In the mean time give her a COLD wet wash cloth to chew on.
If I were you I would call the doc in the morning because a fever that has gone on for 3 days (and Sunday will be day number 3) then there is usually an underlying problem that needs attention... My guess is still an ear infection! Good luck and I hope you can get some rest!

I have four children ages 10 to 25 so have a bit of experience in these matters. The first thing: a fever of 100.5 is nothing to be overly concerned about. This is actually a good fever because it means whatever if going on in your daughter is being taken care of by her own immune system.
Second, my first thought was teething. You may not be able to feel if any teeth are erupting through her gums Right now, but if they are beginning to move down into position, that will hurt and make her cranky.
If she is teething, putting a water-filled teething ring in the freezer for a while to get very cold will feel good on her gums.
If you can reach your doctor or some other doctor on call in your pediatrician's office, I suggest you try that. Or if it is available to you, take her to urgent care. Be careful to only give her children's Tylenol and don't over medicate her.
Good luck.

First of all 100.5 is not fever. Fever is 101.3 and up. And DO NOT MIX TYLENOL WITH MOTRIN. Use one at the time. What I mean is do not give her first dose of Tylenol and the second one of Motrin. Use only one. I think she's just teething. Keep an eye on temperature. If goes 101.3 or more and does not go down take her to the ER.

First of all, when a baby cries for a long time it can make the temp register higher than it really is. This could be teething. If it is, you could try some orajel. However, you should trust your instincts. I would call the Dr. first. Don't feel embarassed. They get this all of the time. If your baby is eating she probably okay, but call the Doc. just to make YOU feel better. Better to do it know than at 3 a.m. The first thing I would do is turn the lights out, and make the house quiet, and try to calm your baby. Comfort is one of the only things you can really do for a child that is teething. If chewing conforts her, give her something to chew on. (You really should freeze teething rings....they can hurt the teeth and gums to bite down on.....just chill them in the fridge or freeze them and then thaw them until they are slushy. I hope this helps.....By the way.....I am currently going through the SAME thing....and my child just recently had two teeth start to show.
I have found some teething tablets at Wal-Mart in the baby section that disolve in the mouth. They seemed to ease the pain enough to help her sleep. (I don't know if she had fever though.)

I'm not a mother but I work with infants. Take your child to the doctor immediately. A fever could sometimes be very serious. It's like a telegram telling you that something is wrong in the body and 100.5 fever is very high for an infant. Your baby's safety comes first. Get her to the doctor.

The first question is: Is your daughter acting sick?
100.5 is not really a high temp erature for a baby. She could be cutting teeth (is she drooling a lot, and putting everything in her mouth?). Or she could just have a mild bug.
If your daughter is acting sick, then I suggest that you seek the advice of a doctor. If not, just wait and watch. If the low temp continues, but she is not acting sick you may want to call your doctor on monday.
Good luck.

These symptoms, (sleeplessness and fever) also could mean infection. Is she fussy and tugging at an ear? Does her fever go away when you give her medicines? If it doesnt, then she needs to go to the doctor. I would call the doctor anyway because she has had a recurring fever for 3 days. Its always better safe then sorry with young children.

I say take her to the hospital now. If her fever has not come down after giving her medicine it might not be curable with medicines. You should take her and have her checked out because a fever for more than a day can mean more than she's just teething.

that is not a very high fever but it has been going on for a while -- I would still make an appointment...my pediatrician has an "urgent care" program for weekends and after office hours.
I would feel better if I knew it was just teeth and not something serious. Good Luck

Don't panic. 100 degrees for a young child is not that high. Children's body can handle higher temps. better than an adult. Think about is she's had anything unusual to eat in the last few days. You should check her teeth and make sure it's not teething. I would call her doctor's office. There will be an on call doctor that will call you back. Talk to him/her and explain what's going on.
