I am starting my 5th week of pregnancy today and I have had a little very very light pinkish discharge (sometimes maybe a touch darker). It seems to be only when I go to the bathroom and wipe ( not in underwear). It's not very much at all, and I am a little crampy but nothing major at all. I haven't had sex or anything like that. I am a worry wart! Is this normal?? Has anybody else had this happen?

Last period on May 5, 2006 just in case that info is needed. This probably would have been my period week, but 100% sure. I did call the doctor and he said it isn't unusual for this to happen, and everything could be just fine, but he couldn't say that 100%. He also said unless I was bleeding really heavy and had really severe cramps, I should just wait and see my doctor after the weekend. ( My appt is Monday)!

Thanks.

Yes, many women experience some minor spotting during early pregnancy. You did the right thing, called the doctor and told him. If your bleeding increases and your cramping increases, call the doctor again. Try not to worry. Congrats on your pregnancy!

I had the exact same thing happen to me. It actaully happend on the DAY I should have gotten my period. Had I not taken a pregnancy test the night before, I would have thought it was just my period. I of course then freaked out and went straigt to my Dr. She said it could have been implantation bleeding or what is called "anniversery bleeding." She did go ahead and check my HCG levels just to rule out any problems. Of course you should ALWAYS report ANY bleeding to your Dr. Of course stress will not help you out. Also, bright red blodd is an indicator of new blood. The dark brown blood is old blood and could be your body cleaning out any left over blood from your last period. Good luck and congratulations.

I would have that checked out. My doctor told me it was normal for that to happen when the egg attached itself to the uterus, but two days later I had a miscarriage. It took me another six years to get pregnant again so if I were you I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Some people have a light period once pregnant. Although I would be understandably worried if it were me. That is about 28 days from your last period....did you speak to your OBGYN? I think that if they say it's okay, it should be.

Usually when you are that early it is fine. If it keeps happening or gets heavier then you need to worry about it. After about three months you should not see any symptoms like that.
