My serve is is the high 80's.

hank w is right. anyone can make a freshman tennis team. u dont need to be very good at all.

If you're in the 80's you'll do well as Elena Dementieva is in the professional WTA circuit and serving at mid 70's most matches and most pros only hit high 90s and low 100s consistently. It just needs to be stepped up with other shots as Elena has to do otherwise she'd not be up there. Best of luck.

If your serve is at least 80% consistent, then it's more than fast enough already.
But, don't rely on your serve because there'll definitely be players capable of returning it. Instead, work patiently on the rest of your game. Remember, you're only as strong as your weakest link.
Power is not the answer. Instead, concentrate first on proper technique to improve your consistency, spin, and direction. When these are satisfied, you can begin adding power.

You probably have a good speed. One guy listed that serves aren't everything that is kinda true but it is the most important shot of the match because you start with it and you have the most control of it. Just make sure to have it a good speed like 80-90 mph and make sure it goes in! Hope i helped!

As fast as you can get it with enough consistency. If you can just place the ball well or mix it up that could be just as good as well. Play to your strengths. If your strokes are your better shots, simply place the ball out wide with some kick. I'm sure the coaches will notice some talent there along with the rest of your game.

Wow you are 80 MPH!!!! You would only need like 50 MPH to get in a decent freshmen spot... MAybe even 40 MPH!!!!
