Ok. I'm marking an Engl. grammar quiz, and this student got 22 questions out of 40 right, and each question is worth .5. Now, in order to figure out what they got out of 20, do I multiply .5 by 22?
Ie. is 11/22 correct?

ok, the quiz had 40 questions, each worth .5, so the total value of the quiz was 20 points. If the student got 22 out of 40, that means he got 11 out of 20 points. So the student got (11*100/20)=55%.

They got out of 20 yes you multiply 22 by 0.5 b/c 20 is a half of 40. The student got 11/20.
By the way 1/2 = 0.5 not 1.5 .
1.5 = 1 1/2

1/2=.5 if you had 1 1/2 it would be 1.5 to find the decimal for a fraction you just take the numerator divided by the denominator that's what the / is it means divide even though its in a fraction form.
and the 22/40 you have to do the same to the top as the bottom 22/40=.55 11/40=.55 they are equivalent fractions. or if you just want to find a percent (22/40)*100 =55% i'm 15 and i know that check ya later â¥

No. The person got 11 out of 20 not 11 out of 22. Take the mark they got out of 40, then multiply it by .5. the number you get on the calcuator is what they got out of 20.
Now if you want to find their percentage, take their score that was out of 20 and multiply it by 5. The number you get on the calculator is their percentage for this test.

What's an idiot like you doing grading other peoples papers and you don't know 5th grade math. If you have 40 questions and each question is worth .5 points then a perfect score is 20. Now I'm almost as confused as you are.

1 / 2 = 0.
10 / 2 =5
so its 0.5
