Yes, as a matter of fact I have done the college savings plan in my state for my 7 year old, because by the time she's in college it would cost a small fortune. By doing it this way I am paying what it cost now, and if she doesn't go I get the money back. But she BETTER go. LOL!

I don't have children now, but if we are lucky enough to have them we will save for their education. My husband's family paid for his education and mine did not. Long story short.....it's hard to start off in life with that amount of debt. If his parents had not paid for his education we would not have had any money at all when we got married. It is a huge blessing to your children if you can at least help them to pay for college. The odds of them actually finishing college are better too, because when you have to pay for it yourself you may not be able to go straight through college. I took 2 years, had to quit to save some money, went back for 1 1/2 years, quit because of a disabling illness (life is so unpredictable) , and now almost 10 years to the date that I started I'm looking at going back again to finish. It would have been alot easier if I could have gone all 4 years in a row.

Yes, we have saved for our child's education. Probably not enough since he thinks he wants to be a surgeon, but there are always student loans.

No if someone wants a college education they should have to pay for it them self. Anything not earned is not appreciated.
