It's called saccations when your eyes jump. Saccations are short leaps across the words. This happens because your eyes can recognize words faster than your brain interprets them. I do the same thing (lose my place) sometimes, but it's normal. It has connections with speed reading. We studied this in one of my classes last semester.

You must take breaks when reading. This is necessary because the mind doesn't like to stay in one place and we have all sorts of things on our mind as well. Even 30 seconds will do. Physically your eyes get strained easily from the focus.

Make sure when you are reading you have proper lighting and you are not laying down or looking at the text at an angle

Your eyes may be strained or tired. See if theres a frequency in how long it takes you till that issue occurs. Try to give your eyes a break, don't read when your tired and try not to read to fast. If you have a wondering eye or see double then it would be a lazy eye. If none of those suggestions help, try talking to an eye doctor.

it seems that u r trying to read too fast. i do the same thing when i try to read out loud. just try to read slower. but if u r really worried about it go to an eye doctor! maybe it is a specific condition. =)

this could be eye strain, or one of the other things people have mentioned, but if it is a serious problem, you may have a tracing problem. my sister had this, and it impaired her reading comprehension and speed. she went to a special therapist and did a bunch of special exorcises that fixed the problem.

It means your eyes are following the written words. If they veer away from the page, you are losing interest....take a break.

it happens while your reading then you start thinking about something else, you still "read" the page but you won't notice because your in your own little dream world. This is normal don't worry about it.
