Michael Irvin -
I was there, I have Eagles season tickets. He laid face down on the Vet stadium turf, motionless.
He is sooo hated in Philly that the crowd cheered. The guy in front of me yelled "I hope the ambulance backs up over him".
I yelled " He's not hurt, he's just trying to snort the 40 yd line"
because of his well known cocaine problem.
We Philly fans were once again scolded by both local and national media. ESPN called it disgraceful.
I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would tell him to his face.
That arrogant SOB deserved to get hurt. I'm glad it happened.
My only regret is that the same thing didn't happen to Deion Sanders. Although Ike Reese almost killed him when he was returning a punt for the Ravens in Philly.

There are seriously hundreds and hundreds of players that had career ending injuries. Usually that is what it takes in order to get them to retire in the first place. Some guys just can't give it up.

Bo Jackson, Napoleon McCallum, Daryl Stingley, Joe Theismann...it's a long, ugly list. But that's why they get the big bucks.

everyone knows joe thiesman broke his leg on national tv [ just brutal!!]. but here are a couple you may have forgotten; herb score fastball pitcher fo cleveland back in the fifties took a line drive to the face[ i believe off the bat of gil mc dougle] .that was it for herb. dizzy dean[ hall of fame pitcher] went back to the mound too soon after a leg injury, tried to compensate by using a different arm angle and that wrecked his arm..and he was gone... warning to all pitchers in a hurry to come back after an injury. i believe it was benny "kid" parret that got killed in a '50's boxing match[ or he killed the other guy... cant think of his name] oh, carl mays , cubs pitcher hit a batter[cant think of his name... whats wrong w/ me tonight?] and killed him on the spot. pretty much ended his career[ ray chapman, thats who it was, cracked his skull... this was way before batting helmets]
