Yeah, I am 8 months second pregnancy and have them too. I learned from lamaze last time to go through the following steps to try to relieve the pain and determine if it is true labor.
First thing you want to do is drink a ton of water. Like 1/2 gallon in a couple hours. This will help make sure you aren't dehydrated, because that will cause the cramping.
If you walk and the pains go away, it's BHC's. If it's true labor, walking will help sway your hips and continue the contractions.
Try laying down and taking a tylenol pm if your doc is okay with them. My doc is pretty conservative and has no problem with me using them. If you can get some rest and the tylenol relieves the pain and the contractions stop, you know you're not in labor.
You can always call Labor and Delivery at your hospital. They are always on duty and would rather talk you through it from the comfort of your home than having you come in to sit for a couple of hours and drink the water there.
Good luck and take care of yourself!

I second the braxton-hicks contraction theory. This could be a sign to sit down and elevate your feet. Do you have a job that you are required to stand alot? If so it is time to quit, or bring a stool to work. Danger signs that you are going into labor would include continuous heavy spotting, severe cramping, losing your cervical plug, or your water breaking. I join the others in suggesting to call your midwife and run some questions by (her). Use common sence, and take care of your self. Get plenty of rest , and eat healthy the marathon of child birth is coming up.
God Bless,
Suzie

Menstrual-like cramps are a sign of premature labor... I am not sure, but I think that Braxton Hicks are only supposed to be felt like tightening in your belly. Come to think of it, I do remember mine and they were never painful enough to notice.. Like the person above said.. drink lots of water because dehydration can cause you to have contractions. (I had to go to the hospital for this because I was dehydrated in my last pregnancy). Some signs of premature labore are: menstrual-like cramps, contractions every 10 minutes or 5 an hour, dull low back pain, abdominal cramps with or without diarrhea, unusual amount of vaginal discharge, vaginal bleeding or watery leakage from vagina (doesn't have to be a 'gush') Check out the signs for yourself.. Just type in premature labor and you'll be set.

Yeah I would call the doctor, but having that feeling of menstrual can be felt..even when your are pregnant. You could be gonna go lil earlier. Just don't make plans on long trips stay home and rest. Your lil one will let you know when he/she is ready to come into the world. Good Luck!

It's probably Braxton-Hicks, or your uterus is stretching. If the cramps get too bad, call the doctor, it never hurts just to be sure.
