The steering wheel on my 99 Dodge Durango got intensly super hard after I got out of doing two donuts in the dirt. What can be wrong with it?

Rock(s) or dirt in the suspension/steering? Mud/Water on the serpentine belt causing the Power Steering pump to slip? Is this the only time it's done this? Not trying to be a wise-guy, but if this is the case, more info would be helpful.

Sounds like a bad steering gear. It's the box that the steering shaft connects to. You might be able to loosen the jam nut and tighten the spider gear a bit. Not too tight though.

It sounds like a steering gear box or rack and pinion that is going bad on you. Like someone above me said, you may be able to make an adjustment to it to make it work a little better and last a little longer.

Good Luck!!!

Other than being a ( dodge ) ....... Possibly tierods or ball joints. Also stay away from donuts and you won't be needing answers to questions like this 1.
