When we had our 2nd, I couldn't imagine how it would affect our first one. Yet amazingly there was plenty of love to go around, everyone still got their fair share of time. Since my 1st was school age, I got my one on one bonding time with the baby during school hours. Then after school I focused on my older child.

Mom's will make time for their kids, all of them. And if she does feel like she is getting slighted for time with her mom, she needs to be honest and let her mom know.

Mom's can't fix what they dont' realize is broken.

Tell her to talk to her mom now, or you could even mention it to her mom. Don't make a big deal of it, just give the mom and FYI. She will appreciate you came to her, and you can ask her to keep it between the 2 of you.

Her mom may be busy with a new baby but her mom will always love your friend very, very much. Tell your friend to be understanding that a new baby is going to take a lot of time and energy and getting used to (a new routine). Tell her to get involved with her new sibling and help out with the baby - if she feels like she is a part of the baby's life she won't feel as if she's left out.
More importantly, you should tell her to talk to her Mom about how she is feeling. There is nothing wrong with her being honest with her Mom that she is feeling she might be left out once the baby comes. Hearing her mom reassure her and comfort her will help her work through the feelings she is having.
