At the moment we can only theorise, but if you are happy arriving back that far, then you are almost there.
For all we know, "our" original big bang could have been the result of someone experimenting in a lab. I understand that there are other ways that it can naturally occur. Even when starting with absolute nothingness, using strange maths, you can prove that given a long enough time, eventually it will happen.
Like Dorycopterpanda said though, our fishy brains are a bit small to really get to grips with it all.

New theories are being suggested for this as we speak. Why? Because of String Theory. You can read up on String Theory all day and it still might not make sense. The basis of it is that multiple dimensions exist and act on one another all the time. So how does that affect the big bang theory? One theory is that our universe is receiving energy from other universes and that influx contributed to the big bang.
The traditional theory is that an old universe collapsed in on itself and the big bang is just the ‘bounce’ back when all that matter collided. This is very, very simplistic but hopefully it gives you a place to start.
You can pick up book about it but if you want an interesting layman’s book about this and other fun stuff pick of The Science of Super Heroes. It has an excellent simple section about String Theory and you might enjoy the other stuff too.

The big bang theory suggests that the universe came from one singular point in space and time.
To me what made this happen was an intelligent being. (some would call God)
How could one possibly explain how you and I were created from 1 single point, if not for intelligent design.
Some evolutionists go 1 further and suggest before the single atom existed there was nothing. But saying something came out of nothing without an intelligent designer makes no sense.

we are so sophiscated and yet so simple, to think it can all be explained in a human way, we don't understand and we never will, we just think we are so special, we are no more valuable than the tiniest living orgasm on this planet, living things are all part of a very big chain reaction and we are just a part of that, we live and die that's it. the rest is man made/orientated/garbled/rubbish.
big bang little bang it makes no difference it wasn't the beginning, just an event in the life cycle of the planet we live on. we are what we are due to the availability of different chemicals, ore's, etc. we are not infallable, we are not indispensible, or indisposable. we are vunerable. and pretty stupid too.
man is nothing more than one of lifes creatures just like all of them, none more important than any other.
string theory would be easier to comprehend if we could see with 11 dimensional eyes, but we forget we can only see what the eye can see, other dimensions that may exist mean nothing if we can not interact with them, so get those science people out there developing a lens to allow us to see other dimensions.

well on CBS the show 60 minutes, will have something about that, small little Human and Man, I don't thing it was big bang, I truly believe we are a product of another planet, a lot of thing about us are truly mysterious and all the confusing thoughts be bomb bared with all type of theory's, if if they had proof that we are from evolution they would not tell us and most would not believe it, good luck

Yes I believe in the big bang.
It was caused by terrorists. They blew up the sun and it split into a smaller sun and lots of smaller lobs of heat and gas.
Then the heat and gas slowly cooled down and planets were thus formed. And then on the sixth day, God created Man.

the big bang was the inevitable consequence of a pseudo-random Heisenberg event generated by a multi-dimensional brane collision - obviously.
