The major airlines flying to Vegas are Southwest, America West and American Airlines. I think Southwest flies out of Midway Airport so you may want to check them. But, if you are needing to get there within the next week, you will not get a cheap ticket anywhere. The airline price schedule is such that the most expensive tickets are always sold within 7 days of your flight. Then its a little less if you are more than 7 but less than 14 days before your flight. Then its less still if you fly more than 14 days, but less than 21 days before your flight. The least expensive tickets are thos sold 21 days or more in advance. Those cheap seats sell quickly and there are usually not many of them.
Now when you look for a flight remember that its cheaper to go overnight, or leave Chicago at maybe 8:00 or 9:00 PM at night, and to fly back with a flight leaving at 11:00 PM at night. Its also cheaper to fly midweek, not Monday or Friday.
In Vegas the hotels are more expensive on Friday and Sat nights, by about $40 to $60 a room. SO go on Sunday and come back on thursday.

The airlines are all expensive now, so deals are not very common. You can search lots of airfare rates using Qixo:
http://www.qixo.com/
Also, try Southwest http://www.southwest.com/
and U.S. Airways: http://www.usairways.com/awa/ which are the main discount airlines for Vegas. Cheap Tickets http://www.cheaptickets.com can also be good.
Don't forget to try an air/hotel package deal, which can sometimes be much cheaper than separate air and hotel.

If you have an airport that serves Southwest airlines, you might try them. I am pretty sure they go to Vegas.
