Wind speed, weather conditions

If we're talking about real time i.e. time in the air, then timezones have nothing to do with it.

For efficiency and when possible, any particular aircraft will fly at a constant airspeed. So if it is best suited for an aircraft to fly at 800k/hour through the air (airspeed) and it has a tailwind of 100k/hour it's GROUNDspeed will be 800 + 100 = 900k/hour. When flying back, into a headwind, it's GROUND speed will be 800-100 =700k/hour.

I believe it is as answered and that is wind direction as the main factor. There is also the fuel consumption, number of passengers on board and also the route and amount of air traffic so time of day of travel can make a difference. Mainly though its the direction of the wind.

Actually, the distances are different as the routes are slightly different. Otherwise the 8am plane leaving LA will crash into the 8am plane leaving San Francisco while in the air.

But the wind/air current speed and Earth's rotation (i.e. direction) do affect it too.

It's because one way you travel with the wind, the other way against.

Travelling with the wind is obviously much faster because it helps propel the plane forward, travelling against is more of a struggle (and uses more fuel as well)

it takes different times each way because of the rotation of the earth. since the earth rotates to the east, when you travel eastward, you travel with the earth's rotation so the time is shorter. whereas, when you travel westward, you are against the flow of the earth, so the travel takes longer.

To CA from CT 7 hours, back is 4, it's because the wind is with you.

Wind speed, weather conditions, delays on right to use airspace, too many people using outside toilet, passengers not cycling hard enough ,loads reasons

Same as above, plus I think they also have to take very slightly different routes.
