This is the logic of the pro-abortion zealots (aka "the Democratic Party"): Either lift every single restriction on abortion or ... every woman in America will be impregnated by her father and die in a back-alley abortion!

This is not some theoretical exercise.... people would behave better or differently. Men would not womanize as much.... People have unplanned unprotected sex in the grip of passion, so it will continue as before. What do whores have to do with it? It's not clear to me.
If it became illegal, there would be back street abortions that would kill women. The rich women would go abroad to get abortions and the poor women would not. They would be locked into a cycle of endless poverty. The streets would be crawling with orphaned and abandonned kids like in Rio.
Abortion is never a good choice, but in my opinion it must be a choice available.
People were more moral way back when, not because of abortion, but because of a number of other factors:
Life was less complicated. There weren't drugs and guns in the schools. The family was more extended and a stronger unit. Parents spent a lot more time with their kids at home. We didn't have this infernal squawk box blasting garbage into our minds all day and night long. You could trust your neighbor, and might have even been able to leave your doors unlocked and the keys in the car. You could depend on your friends. Many people lived in the same community for their whole lives and did not move about. None of this has anything to do with abortion. People waited longer before they had sex, but they did have sex outside of marriage.
You are mixing apples and oranges. I think it's OK if you don't think abortion is moral, but your arguments are not well structured or logical.

Morals would be no better. People are always saying how much better the old days were but they are no different than now. Abortion has become constitutionally legal but they have always existed and women have availed themselves to that for many years. Many families had shotgun weddings because of an unexpected family member that would be arriving in a few months and some women even back then had children out of wedlock.
I'm a part time genealogist so digging into the past is my hobby. Even when society was thought to be more morally upright than today the same things that are occurring now was occurring then.. it just wasn't talked about as much. Even divorce was more common in the 1800's than people believe it to be. The state library in Hartford CT has a 400 page volume of listed divorces from 1800-1899 and that book is for one county only (there are 7 others).
Morality really hasn't changed.. just peoples perception of it has.

There are many, many countries around the world where abortion is illegal and men continue to rape women. In fact, it is these countries that tend to have other antiquated laws about women's rights (the testimony of one man is equal to that of two women in a cout of law, rape victims can be sent to jail for adultury, etc.). Outlawing abortion is a step in the wrong direction, PARTICULARLY when children receive incomplete abstinence-only sex-ed curriculums in school and don't have all the information necessary to protect themselves.
"Historically, the US was far more moral before the legalization of abortion." Are you talking about the era when slavery was legal? Or the time when blacks couldn't vote? What about when Native Americans were exploited through unfair trade agreeements and forced onto reservations? Or maybe you're talking about the McCarthy era when people were blindly accused of being Communists without any evidence to support those claims?
In fact, recent studies show that abortion has lowered crime rates over the last thirty years. The number of children born into drug-addicted, low income, single-parents families has decreased. As these are the children most likely to grow up and become criminals, the fact that these children have been aborted before birth has led to a safer nation for all. Read the book "Freakonomics" for more information on this phenomenon.

Depends what your definition of "moral" is. Historically, the US was far more racist and sexist before the legalization of abortion, so I think your rosy view of history is a little slanted. Do you realize that carrying a pregnancy full-term is far more of a hazard to the health of the mother than is an abortion performed in a safe, sterile manner? Why do anti-choice followers insist upon focusing solely on the fetus? Women are more than just breeding facilities.
This is not an issue for lawyers and politicians to decide. It is an issue for individuals to deal with as they see fit. It should not be a consideration for the legal system.

Oh look, more sanctimonious crap from someone who doesn't know thier *** from a hot rock. This sentence especially illustrates the ultimate ignorance;
"Historically, the US was far more moral before the legalization of abortion. Wouldn't it return to this moral if abortion was again illegalized?"
Oh yes, FAR more moral. Like when people owned slaves? Or when Blacks were unable to use certain washrooms or unable to go into most restaurants? Or when places had signs above the door saying "indians and dogs not allowed".
Yeah, real moral.

The US wasn't more "moral" it was just less publicized back then. People kept their families dirty little secrets under the rug. Pregnant girls were sent away to have the baby then give it up for adoption or they had backroom abortions. Why do you think so many people got married as teenagers back then?

They aren't illegal in the US or UK or many other places.
I think that after many many years of no abortions that people (more the kids born later) would have more respect for life. Kids nowadays just see abortions and see no difference in the murder of adults and others.

There would have to be exceptions, like for the poor 12 year old girl who was raped and got pregnant. I think your theory is pretty good, but it takes a lot to change people. Illegalizing something would only make them do it more in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. And plus, it's America - think of how outraged people would be if they found out they couldn't make that choice for themselves.

There was a study done (I think by "Freakonomics" in NYC) that shows that the decline in crime over the past 10 years can be directly linked to the legalization of abortion.

if abortion was illegal i would be cheering and yelling at the top of my lungs. most of the girls that get raped are under 18 and they end up getting pregnant. if over 1 million girls get raped and or have sex , 1/3 of them get abortions. that's how many infants get their limbs and head riped from their spine every year. besides the main point of having sex is to have kids. ( it's the main point cause it's a effect from a cause)
