Yes it make sense to "savor those memories" because I have a short term memory problem, and all I can remember are those memories of the past. Doctor's took tests, couldn't find anything wrong. I guess that comes with getting older. So, treasure what you can remember.

Well, savor literally means to taste or smell something, so no, it does not make sense, since a memory is a reaction to the chemicals in the brain... But I suppose if you were to eat your brain....
