I just want to clear something up for the ladies that answered your question incorrectly. Post partum is NOT depression. Post partum MEANS after the birth. Most women's bodies are close to normal when they are 6 weeks post partum. It may take longer to start your cycle again. You should be going to your OB for a check up when you are about 6 weeks post partum. I will add this... you do NOT have to have a period to get pregnant! You shouldnt be having intercourse until you have your post partum check up... and even then if you still do not have your period, this does not mean you will not get pregnant.

I have a 6 month old. I had my first period 8 weeks after delivery (I also bled for a while after I delivered). I DID breastfeed, and still had my period 8 weeks later. I ended up not being able to breastfeed after 3 months. I have had my period ever since. It is normal to not have a period the entire time you breastfeed. If you don't breastfeed, I would expect it to return at about 2-3 months.

Post pardom means being depressed after you have a baby. It has nothing to do with bleeding. If you don't get your period back within 2 months, see your doctor.

If you're breast feeding, you probably won't have a period until you stop. Otherwise it's about 4 to 8 weeks....just takes a little time for your hormones to get back in synch.

Be greatful. However, not having a period does not mean you cannot get pregnant! That's how we got baby #5...I'm old (40's) and was nursing at the time...so watch out! If you are unsure you should call your OB/GYN.

depends on the woman it can take anywhere from a month to 4 months but if its really bothering you..talk to your doctor.

BTW...post partum is the depression some women experience after child birth and it should be evaluated by a professional

it is different for all women. my wife suffered with it last summer after our daughter was born. she took anti-dep. for like 2 months before she slowly weaned off of em'. She is doing great now. make sure you get to the doctor and get something for it. don't listen to scientology nuts. if you are experiencing this see your doctor. this can be very dangerous for yourself and your baby. not to be taken light heartedly. god bless you

Postpartum has nothing to do with your period...it's a mental health issue a lot of woman have after pregnancy.
