Actually, on a '97 Minivan, the fuel filter is mounted on the top side of the tank. It's a dark gray plastic canister about the size of your computer mouse. It's held in place with a single bolt with a 10mm head. It also has 3 black plastic lines coming out of it, 2 from the fuel pump and 1 to the front of the vehicle. If you change it yourself, remember the fuel system is under high pressure (even when the vehicle is not running). So be prepared for fuel spray!

I have a 98 Caravan and mine is under the passenger seat bolted to the inside of the frame rail. It is the same place that my 91 caravan had its fuel filter so I am guessing that it's pretty much a Chrysler thing.

Underneath the vehicle, about the middle of the vehicle. I don't remember what side, though. It's silver and can-shaped, about the size of a small juice can.
