stuff them with newspaper to stretch the leather a little

For only a few pounds you can purchase a shoe stretcher from any good shoe shop. I used to have one. They are very good too. Well worth the £4.99 I paid for it. you don't have to suffer the blisters/soreness of feet either. It looks like a wooden foot which is parted into 2 sections length ways, there are a few screws to adjust to get either he width or length of the shoe to fit. Invest in one..... you will never look back.

The very best way is get someone with a shoe size 1/2 smaller than yours to break them in for you....like your little brother. Short of that...if they are leather...try walking in puddles then walking them dry.

Putting some oil in them and wrapping them tightly in a comfortable position would probably be best. Same practice as breaking in a new baseball glove.

You can buy cushions for the back of your heels at most supermarkets. Or you can take them to a shoemaker and have him fix them.
