I'm 56, male, and I recently developed itchy genitals as well. The medical books I have don't help. I don't bathe every day, to avoid drying out my skin. What I suspect is a kind of fungus, similar to athlete's foot. The conditions in a crotch are similar to those of a foot. (confined in a warm place + not much air and sunlight getting to either area + some moisture ==ripe conditions
for fungal infection.

What I'm doing, rather than rubbing stinging rubbing alcohol around on the area, is to use an
anti-fungal cream, and baby powder. It is important to use pure talcum powder--nothing with corn starch, because cornstarch is a food product that would provide nutrition to the nasty fungus.![It's surprising even how many foot powders have cornstarch in them--they are bad products, according to experts.]

There could be a lot of reasons. Have you washed it? Do you have jock itch? if so, get the tenactin and put it on. If the itch persists, see your doctor.
