My first Ob gyn appt was like a normal pap. But I was 13 weeks along so I got an ultrasound to make sure there was a heartbeat and make sure everything looked ok. They also do blood testing

Like Colinsmom said...all the questions. At 12 weeks the doctor will probably try to listen for a heartbeat...the doctor will put a gel on your abdomen and listen with a neat device that will amplify so you too can listen. If you haven't had a recent pap smear you might also have to do that. Congratulations.

They will ask your medical history. It's really a mountain of paper work. They will do a blood test, check your blood pressure and weight. Have you pee in a cup. They'll do a Pap test and probably listen to the fetal heart rate. They may do an ultrasound, but if you're a low risk mother they might wait to do a routine one at 20weeks.
Congratulations!

Well congrats to you and yours! YOur 1st appt will be lengthy. You will have a medical history, of you and your s.o. and a breast exam, they weigh you, discuss any problems you have had, proir pregnacies, aboritons if any, still borns, etc. And you will have to be checked to see excatually how far along you are. I hate that part! ANd if you don't have any q's they send you on your very way and see ya in 4-6 weeks! It usually takes about an hour. But after that the appts will be 15 minutes tops. BUt if you have to wait longer! Good luck!
