Bottle rather than breast?

People keep saying that formula has the same nutrients as breast milk and that is INCORRECT. Breast milk has many many more substances, including antibodies which are not found in formula.

It is a proven medical fact that breast milk is better for babies in everything from immunity to brain development / intelligence to obesity and diabetes in later life. Some people are even now trying to accuse increasing rates of ADHD in the population on increased bottle-feeding. Some people even say social skills are improved by the love bond facilitated by breast feeding. So i would personally pick the breast over the bottle.

However i dont think anyone in 2006 is CRAZY enough to assume that a woman who chooses to bottle feed is a "bad mother". THere are many reasons why women to choose the breast or bottle.. and the truth is that most babies arent looked after by the mothers for the most part.

Bottle feeding doesnt make a bad mother - neglect, abuse being, uncaring and unresponsive thats what make a bad mother. If someone is accusing you of being a bad mom because you choose not to, tell her that nicolette gave you permission to flip them the birdie.

I have a 8 month old daughter and she has been bottle fed since she was 8 weeks old. I wish that I could of breastfed longer but I couldn't b/c I dried up. However does this make me a bad mother "no". No matter what people say bottle feeding your baby does not make you a bad mother. Yes breastfeeding is better but doesn't mean that it makes you a bad mother if you don't. Now a days they make formula that has the same things in that breast milk does. I hope that this helps you out, and remember no matter what people tell you using the bottle does NOT make you a bad mother. Good luck and enjoy your baby

NO, mother's that bottle feed are fine. Breast feeding is said to create more of a bond between a baby and it's mother but that same bond can be achieved in other carring ways. Also, it's my understanding that breast milk may have certain nutrients that would not be available from formula but I don't believe a mother that can't breast feed is BAD.

Feeding the child is what is truly important and often many mothers for one reason or another can't bottle feed. So they can't be bad mother's because the only other option would be to starve the child.

You are NOT a bad mother if you choose to bottle feed. Some think that the breast is the only way to go but you have to do what you feel is best for you and your baby.

Many people these days are bottle feeding for the convienience of it all. But I still believe if you can breast feed, do it. I was only able to do it for a few weeks because I didn't produce enough to even satisfy my son so I had to switch to a bottle. But it really depends on what you can do and what you prefer. No bottle feeding moms are not bad at all. Just make sure you still make time for you and baby when you feed them. They can still have that bond with you and you with them. I treasure those moments, I just wish I could always hold him when he is fed. But it doesn't always happen. I don't think I am a bad mom, because I know that my son is healthy and happy!

No!
Breastfeeding is the best way to feed your baby but there are always circumstances that may prevent a mother from doing so. That includes personal preference. Some people just do not like the thought of breastfeeding.

I breast fed my first 2 babies and I neither liked it or disliked it - I did it because it was best for the babies. Then I had twins and started to breastfeed them but hated it so much that I sometimes cried when I was doing it, so I stopped and started to bottle feed them. I felt guilty at first and my Midwife said that I probably would make myself ill/depressed if I continued and affect my relationship with the babies.

No! I choose to breast feed but that is "my" choice. Whatever you think is best, is best. I don't think a woman should breast feed if she doesn't feel comfortable with it. Breast feeding is a big commitment and can be easy or hard but cheaper most times and eco-friendly. Bottle feeding is less work sometimes but it's a hassle to make the bottles and can be more expensive. If you can even just breast feed for a few weeks it's better than none. Breast milk is best for baby but formula is just fine.

No... cuz sometimes it is just the child that is the problem with breast feeding and stuff. I was first breast feeding but then I was a big baby and i gave hickies on my mother's hooters. lol. So we went to bottle feeding. Then my sister couldn't sit still long enough to breast feed and would rather drink a bottle in the stroller. But then my 3rd sister was breast fed normally so. I don't see why there should be any discrimination on women who don't breast feed.

NOT AT ALL.......my mum has epilepsy which means due to the tablets she was taking to control the fits she couldn't breast feed either me or my brother as we would become dependent on the tablets. whether she had a choice or not she would still have bottle fed. The benefits of bottle feeding is that you can leave your child with a trusted person for a long period of time and others can feed your child, for example your partner during the night. Also it helps in teaching your child to hold objects and even feed itself when its older. although some people do prefer breast feeding i guess it just comes down to mother preference.
