I am the mother of 2 girls 14 and 18 very health i must say i ate cake and yes you can develop gestational diabetes. I did. So you are correct to ask questions you can never be too careful when carrying one of God's creation, you don't want to hinder any of what he has already formed. Be careful of everything you take in sweetie and don't listen to what everyone tell you just check it out for yourself just like now. Hope this helps.

The sugar in the cake is only bad if you have gestational diabetes or if cake is the ONLY thing you eat.
You need to eat a balanced diet when you are pregnant.
Never mind what the nurse says...what does the DOCTOR say?
Sometimes the nurses in larger doctor's offices don't agree with the doctor. They think that because of a personal experience they had, they know it all. Maybe your nurse had gestational diabetes, was told not to eat a lot of cake and sweets, and mistakenly thinks that applies to all pregnancies?

It is not going to KILL you.,.....Nurses tell you alot of BS that makes you worry... Like never give your child juice in their sip cups.. more BS. That is just a way of them trying to control people. And that is what it comes down to... Okay, we all know that sugar isn't really good for us. And while pregnant, it will cause us to gain more weight than normal. If you are overweight you have a chance to have gestational diabetes while pregnant.. sugar therefore is NOT good for the women who have this. Other than that, eat it! Just try to keep it under control (I know how the cravings can get...I have cravings even when I am not pregnant!)

Pregnant women should eat nutritious foods and avoid too much sugar. But to blankly say pregnant women shouldn't eat cake is kind of overkill.
You shouldn't eat raw cookie dough or cake batter (because of the raw eggs in it), just to be on the safe side.

many women develop diabetes during pregnancy, a piece of cake would in fact elevate your blod suger level, so she prol right, but every person is different, ask your doctor, and if he tells you something don't come back here looking for someone who will tell you what you want to hear.

Yes honey. It raises your insulin levels which affects other hormone levels and blood pressure. I'd say eat the cake in moderation.
