Ovulation is the process in the menstrual cycle by which a mature ovarian follicle ruptures and discharges an ovum (also known as an oocyte, female gamete, or casually, an egg) that participates in reproduction..Ovulating women experience a rise in body temperature, on average one-half to one degree Fahrenheit (one-quarter to one-half degree Celsius). The temperature elevation persists until approximately the beginning of menstruation, normally 10-16 day later. Furthermore, some women may experience novel discomfort or pain in their lower abdomen during ovulation termed Mittelschmerz ("midpain") that is most likely caused by irritation of the abdominal wall from the blood and fluid escaping from the ruptured follicle. Lastly, the chemical composition of a woman's cervical mucus will shift up to several days before ovulation, (the stringy characteristics are often perceived as stretching by women). The most fertile type of mucus may resemble raw egg white. Cervical mucus reverts to infertile or less fertile forms shortly after ovulation occurs.

Ovulation usually takes place 14 days after the beginning of your menstrual cycle. The time of ovulation within the menstrual cycle is determined by the luteal phase, which is usually 12 to 16 days long. You can calculate the time of ovulation within your cycle by subtracting the length of your luteal phase from the length of your cycle. For example, if your cycle is 28 days long and your luteal phase is 12 days long, the ovulation will occur on day 16 of your cycle (28-12=16). The exact time of ovulation may vary within your cycle, because ovulation can be delayed by a number of factors such as stress, illness, diet, or increased physical activity.

It depends on your age (over 18) and if you have a good job and most importantly married. Just once a month. If you do not fall into this category then you ovulate 24/7 so better stay away from sex completely. (wink wink)

One week after your period ends, and you become most fertile a week after that, when the egg reaches half-way to three-fourths the way down the fallopian tube.

Depends on the woman. Sometime during the month, unless she's not child-bearing age anymore.
