I got seriously teased because I said...isn't that one of the newer colors during a fireworks display. I know I read in the last year or so that they introduced in colors in fireworks (magenta was one) but I need a credible source to shut these people up!! Any help would be great!

Sorry, but I don't think magenta is new. The link says it's just a strontium salt. Maybe you could find your original source.
