There have been many answers to this question over the years. And it seems the most popular one is that when girls feel they need to start wearing make-up, it's because they are insecure about a particular part of their body. As the years progress those insecurities tend to go away but it's turned into a daily thing, just like brushing your teeth. You get up in the morning, you take a shower, you put on your make-up and fix your hair. People use the excuse, "It enhances your natural beauty." What they don't realize is that the beauty they're trying to enhance can only stay natural if it's left untouched.

I wear -soooo much- makeup. Guilty as charged. But it's usually eye make up that I love and I usually wear it at the appropriate times. Like... I won't put on war paint to go to the beach. I like dramatic eye effects, so I use three shades of eyeshadow for dimension and dark liner and thick mascara. Plus it took me a long time to learn how to apply the makeup without looking like a drag queen. However, I don't usually cake on my cheeks and lips. I like clear lip gloss.

Some girls think they need it. I know a girl who is georgous but shes always wearing way too much makeup. You can tell she does too. Alot of girls wear makeup because they think guys will like them more or they may think they have too many flaws.

They feel like they have to live up to that "perfect" standard that teens believe in today. I'm 17 and i think that concealer, lip gloss and MAYBE mascara are the only thing that a teenage girl needs to wear unless its a special ocassion.... message to girls out there: you may think that now, all of those pretty,slu**y, and snobby girls in middle school are the only ones who get the guys and are popular...but in high school the guys LUST after the smart, NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL and kind girls.....

I don't know. Some girls think they look prettier with a load of makeup. But seriously I think girls look prettier if they keep their makeup simple.

What I do not understand is why people care about how much make up girls are wearing????? Who cares I have better things to worry about than that.

some girls just don't know how to put on makeup. Other may have some discoloration.

because they don't know how to put it on resulting in to much make up. it would be better that they didn't wear any at all than wear to much
